moonlight shatters the stormy skies
lightning unrooting the waves
and butterflies flickering to darkness
with shredded wings crumbling to ashes
burning across the endless salt and sea

drowning in the endless sea of unknown
reaching for the hollow lights bellow
only to fall, to fall, to fall hellbent
and never know what’s waiting

fireflies flicker and butterflies shiver
moths lay aquiver, and wraiths merely slither
left with nothing but unanswered murmurs
who linger in the heart’s hollow void
its roots nestling in your thunder-filled veins
as warmth finally surrounds it in your dark embrace
